Case Study: Dragflow DRP300 Autonomous Dredge in Action
Kingscliff Sands is a bulk sand supplier on the Gold Coast renowned for producing high quality fine sands.
They approached FITT Resources to provide a solution to their sand dredging requirements, with the aim of increasing safety by removing the need to have personnel on the water, as well as minimising manual input so as to maximise production.
The solution FITT Resources provided was a Dragflow DRP300 dredge with a EL180 pump and fitted with an autonomous excavation system and GPS.
The EL180 pump delivers a maximum head of 45m and a maximum flow rate of 1000 m3/h, and there is also the option for cutters to be fitted when required.
A key advantage of the autonomous system is that it enables the dredge to operate in auto mode, which means a consistency of product flowing to the process plant, as well as mapping of the dredged areas.
Designed and built in Italy, the DRP300 was assembled in 4 days and commissioned with the assistance of a specialist Draglfow technician in 5 days.
During its first 600 hours of operation, the dredge was able to deliver 120,000 tonnes of product at a rate of 200 tonnes per hour.
The partnership with Kingscliff Sands has been extremely positive, and we look forward to being able to support their operations further in the future.
